A beautiful, fully restored 190 SL finished in Blu Julie with Beige leather.
Description
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was first displayed at the New York motor show in 1954 and can be largely credited to Max Hoffman who foresaw that the competition success of the 300 SL Gullwing could translate into a popular vehicle for the USA market. The 190 sat at half the price of its bigger 6-cylinder brother in the 300SL and subsequently outsold the more expensive model eight-fold.
190 SLs were produced between 1955-1963, with around 70% of these being delivered to the USA. It was the stunning design and complete usability of the car that suited the US market so well, especially in states such as California.
The RHD car we are pleased to offer for sale was purchased by its current owner in 2018 and was swiftly sent to renowned specialists SL Classics in Germany where it underwent a full ground up restoration. Included in the works was a bare metal respray in Blu Julie, a stunning dark metallic blue that pairs beautifully with the fully retrimmed Beige leather interior and Dark Blue canvas hood. The car also received a full mechanical overhaul to the engine, gearbox, braking system and suspension and drives as well as it looks.
A three-piece matching leather luggage set was also ordered and fits perfectly in the boot of the car, maximising storage space and allowing the car to be the perfect companion for a weekend away or trips into the continent. This beautiful 190 SL sits today in wonderful condition, showing just under 1,200 miles since the restoration was completed. It is accompanied by a number of servicing & sundry invoices, MOT certificates dating back to the 1970s and two photo albums documenting the restoration process.
Restored with no expense spared, this 190 SL represents the epitome of Mercedes-Benz engineering and timeless style and would be a fine addition to any classic car collection. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
