Description

The Jaguar E-type was produced between 1961 and 1975 and quickly became an established icon of the motoring world thanks to its combination of strong looks, high performance and competitive pricing. It received the famous accolade of being the "most beautiful car ever made" according to none other than Enzo Ferrari!

The E-Types produced from 1961-1964 had 3.8 litre straight 6 engines and partial synchromesh transmissions, whilst the later cars made between 1965-1967 had an increased capacity of 4.2 litres as well as the addition of a fully synchronised transmission.

The example that we are pleased to offer for sale is a left-hand drive Series 1.5 4.2 Roadster that was produced in April 1968. The Series 1.5 cars featured open headlights as well as a small ‘mouth’ air intake and uprated seating and interior, with enthusiasts claiming that it is the best-driving and most nimble derivative of the E-Type.

This car is finished in Red over Black leather with a Black mohair roof. It was first delivered to a Sidney Ostroff of Lowell, Massachusetts and continued to spend the early part of its life in the USA. It was then purchased by a gentleman in the United Kingdom in the late 1980s who imported the vehicle and set about treating it to a full ground up restoration.

After two years of hard work and long-nights the car was eventually ready and was registered for use on the road with a mileage of 37,442. He continued to own the car for the next 34 years, saving its use for special occasions only and covering fewer than 5,000 miles. It sits today showing just over 41,000 miles and presents very well. It maintains a Jaguar Heritage Certificate as well as MOT certificates dating back to 1990.

This car represents a wonderful opportunity to purchase a previously restored E-Type that would be the perfect candidate for long-distance touring or Sunday morning blasts alike. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
