Description

The Jaguar E-type was produced between 1961 and 1975 and quickly became an established icon of the motoring world thanks to its combination of strong looks, high performance and competitive pricing. It received the famous accolade of being the "most beautiful car ever made" according to none other than Enzo Ferrari!

The series 1 cars were produced between 1961 and 1968 and are by far the most valuable and desirable. The E-Types produced from 1961-1964 had 3.8 litre straight 6 engines and partial synchromesh transmissions, whilst the later cars made between 1965-1967 had an increased capacity of 4.2 litres as well as the addition of a fully synchronised transmission.

The example that we are pleased to offer for sale is a Series 1 car that was delivered new on the 12th March, 1964 to Jaguar Cars New York. The car is matching numbers and is finished in the timeless Black paintwork with a Red leather interior. It was first registered in the U.K. in April, 1984 and has had just 2 owners since.

The car was subject to a comprehensive restoration in 2022, during which it was treated to a full bare metal respray, an extensive mechanical rebuild, and a complete interior retrim including a new hood and restored Smiths dials. The engine, gearbox, and rear differential were comprehensively rebuilt by Rushton Engineering Ltd.

It sits today in wonderful condition, showing just over 500 miles since restoration and comes complete with a history file detailing the restoration, photographs of the rebuild, many sundry invoices, and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

This car represents a wonderful opportunity to purchase a restored E-Type that would be the perfect candidate for long-distance touring or a Sunday morning blast. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
