Description

Replacing the 330 GTC in late 1968, the Ferrari 365 GTC offered increased displacement over its predecessor, the SOHC V-12 engine now displacing 4,390 cc and with 320 bhp on tap. Furthermore, the 365 also benefitted from the gearbox being integrated with the differential, which gave the car 50/50 weight distribution. Finally, this would be the first road-going Ferrari to feature a fully independent suspension. Autocar magazine’s May 1969 issue quoted a 0–60 mph time of 6.3 seconds, leading to a quarter-mile time of 14.5 seconds at 90 mph with a top speed of 151 mph—performance figures that were very impressive at the time and still more than capable of dispatching the majority of cars on the road today.

Production of the 365 GTC ran for just over a year with just 150 examples being built, thus making them one of the rarest and most desirable of Grand Touring Ferraris

The example we are pleased to offer for sale was delivered new in April 1969 to a Mr Campisi of Italy via Milan based dealer M.G.Crepaldi Automobili. In the early 1970s, the car was exported to the USA where it would reside until the 1990s when it was exported to Europe and was later purchased by a Mr Quintano of Madrid, Spain. In 2003, the car was sold to a Ferrari Dealer based in Germany.

In 2011, the car was imported and registered in the United Kingdom and was purchased by its current owner in 2015. In 2017, the car was treated to a full mechanical and cosmetic overhaul with Joe Macari Servicing to the sum of £120,000. During the overhaul the engine received a complete strip and rebuild, electric power steering was fitted, and the clutch and flywheel were replaced. After the mechanical work was finished, the car was treated to a repaint to the stunning Blu Julie colour it wears today and the interior was retrimmed in Bordeaux leather.

The car maintains an extensive history file documenting various servicing works carried out to car over the years and was also awarded red book Classiche Certification in 2016. Amongst the rarest production Ferraris of its era, the 365 GTC is considered by many to be a truly exceptional and very capable all-around driver, more than ready to comfortably cover large journeys with two passengers and their luggage.
