Description

The Lexus LFA came about as the pet project of Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda, who, after years of producing relatively anodyne road cars, wanted to build a supercar to challenge those being offered by the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini. The project’s development phase became excruciatingly lengthy, but when it was finally unveiled at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, it was immediately clear that the marque had produced something truly remarkable.

The highlight was the 4.8-liter V-10 engine, co-developed with Yamaha and built in the same facility as Toyota Racing’s F1 V-10s. The block is a space-age blend of aluminium, magnesium, and titanium alloy, which made it smaller than an equivalent V8 and lighter than an equivalent V6. The supremely advanced internals permitted for razor-sharp throttle response, allowing the V-10 to rev from idle to 9,000 rpm in just six-tenths of a second. The LFA’s instrument cluster is all-digital, supposedly because no analogue tachometer could keep pace with the engine’s ability to gain and lose revolutions! The LFA’s unique exhaust note is unrivalled among modern supercars and is undoubtedly worth the price of admission.

Just 500 LFAs were produced during the 2-year production run and even though the base price was set at £340,000 Lexus lost money on every single car sold.

The car we are pleased to offer for sale was delivered new to Switzerland in November 2012 and was specified in Obsidian Black over a Black leather interior. The car resided in a collection until 2015 when it was exported to the United Kingdom. When it arrived in the U.K. it was sent to Lexus Milton Keynes who carried out a full service on the vehicle at 1,681km. The car has since been serviced by Milton Keynes another 4 times since then with the important major service and spark plug replacement being carried out in 2019 at 5,947km.

The car sits today in brilliant condition showing just over 6,500km from new. It maintains its original book pack and car cover and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner!

The beautifully sculpted carbon body combined with a one-off 4.8 litre V10 engine has created a car that is instantly recognisable in terms of looks, performance and noise and has quickly become a modern classic amongst automotive enthusiasts and collectors.
