Description

In 1964 Ferrari unveiled the '275' following the huge success of the '250' series - entrusting Pininfarina to design its beautifully aggressive, and now legendary, bodywork. The 275 GTB, built by Carrozzeria Scaglietti, was the last Pininfarina creation supervised by Pinin himself.

The 275 was ground-breaking as it was the first road car to feature independent rear suspension that used a double-wishbone and coil-spring set-up, (inspired by the 250LM) and also because it adopted a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle holding both the gearbox and differential in a single housing, a characteristic that helped improve weight distribution and a feature that characterised future generations of Ferrari's front-engined road cars.

The V12 Colombo engine has a displacement of 3.3 Litres producing 300 bhp and with its ground breaking independent rear suspension and rear mounted five speed transaxle holding both the gearbox and differential in a single housing it delivers the power beautifully with a much better balance and weight distribution for a front engine road car.

The car we are incredibly lucky to offer for sale is the Ultimate specification Ferrari 275 GTB. This 1966 Series 2 Longnose 6 Carburettor Aluminium bodied 275 is the 7th RHD 275 GTB produced and is one of just two RHD drive U.K. cars specified with both the lighter alloy body and more powerful six-carburettor arrangement.

This car was delivered by Maranello Concessionaires in January 1966 to its first owner. Subsequently the car has had a number of notable Ferrari collectors cherishing it throughout its life and today is presented in stunning condition, reading just under 46,300 miles on its odometer. It has also been awarded Classiche Certification from the Ferrari factory, confirming its matching numbers engine and gearbox.

The car maintains a vast history file that includes copies of exchanges between the first owner and Maranello Concessionaires as well as the original sales invoice for the car. The file also contains a large number of MOT certificates and sundry invoices from various specialists for works carried out on the vehicle through the decades.

We are delighted to offer this very well-known and respected car to the market. It presents superbly and has been impeccably maintained by its handful of owners. Being 1 of just 2 RHD UK examples in the most desirable 6 Carb, Alloy specification, this car represents the very rare opportunity to purchase what is surely one of the best examples of the 275 GTB ever produced. A lot of Alloy cars were converted later to 6 Carb examples but this one is the real deal! Please contact us now to find out more information or arrange a viewing.
