Porsche Carrera GT
Carrera GT finished in GT Silver with Black. Less than 3,500 KM from new
The Porsche Carrera GT is in fact a car that came about due to a failed project from the companies Motorsport division; an attempt to create a new Le Mans prototype to replace the infamous GT1. However, a change in FIA rules meant that the 5.5 litre V10 engine was no longer eligible to compete, however Porsche continued in making a 'race car' suitable for the road.
The nature of the project on the CGT created a car where simply no expense was spared, it really was an engineer's dream. A carbon monocoque and subframe, as well as carbon ceramic brakes and carbon clutch all pay homage to the motorsport roots of the vehicle.
However, the most important aspect of the CGT remains that incredible V10 engine, pushing out in excess of 600 bhp with a 0-60 time in the high 3 seconds and top speed in excess of 200mph. Further, this 5.5 litre unit is responsible for one of the most recognisable engine notes ever to be fitted to a Porsche, especially with its red line in excess of 8,000 rpm.
Even with such motorsport heritage, the designers at Porsche understood that people would want to use the Carrera GT, meaning that on the inside, although an incredibly special place to sit, it is not completely alien to a 911 driver. However, special touches such as the wooden gearknob (paying homage to the legendary 917 Le Mans winner) and the individual number of the 1,270 cars produced in total, remind you that this car is something extraordinary.
The car we are offering is an extremely special example of a Carrera GT, with under 3,500 KM from new. The vehicle was supplied new to Germany, and spent most of its early years in a private collection without being driven. Finished in GT Silver with Black interior, this is probably the most classic combination for the CGT and naturally the overall condition of the vehicle is fantastic.
It is rare that cars like the Porsche Carrera GT make it to production, which makes this model all the more unique. Not only are these cars fantastic to own, drive and look at, but they also present a phenomenal investment opportunity, with an incredible future ahead of them.
