Specification

A series of rule changes in 1982 led to Porsche embarking on one of the most ambitious engineering projects they had ever undertaken.

The team was composed of a series of veteran Porsche motorsport participants; Peter Falk, Norbert Singer, Horst Reitter, Valentin Schäffer and Eugen Kolb, all of whom had been a part of the Porsche family for at least 2 decades.

The final set of rules for the World Endurance Championship Group C category left the team with a series of challenges. Nonetheless a model was created and was taken swiftly to the Stuttgart University wind tunnel for testing.

The team settled on an aluminium monocoque construction for the chassis of the car and by the 27th of March 1982 the first test drive was underway.
