Specification

The late 60s were an era when it appeared the front-engined sports car was coming to an end, to be replaced with mid-engined supercars such as the Lamborghini Miura. However, when the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 or 'Daytona' was revealed at the 1968 Paris Salon, it was clear that front-engined format was here to stay and that Ferrari had made a car that was to instantly become an icon.

Although some may have felt that the Daytona lost some of the natural beauty of the 275 GTB, it was undeniably an imposing design, one that was instantly recognisable to all that saw it. Further, the Daytona presented a more usable and practical proposition to previous front-engined V12 Ferraris; a well-proportioned boot and optional air conditioning for example.

However, it is the performance of the Daytona that really announced it as the new flagship model in the Ferrari line-up; over 350 bhp, 5.4 seconds to 60 and a top speed in excess of 170mph from its all-new 4.4 litre V12 engine. In fact, its top speed of 174mph eclipsed that of the Lamborghini Miura, making it the fastest production car in the world at that time. Sitting as the new bench mark for both performance and GT cars, the Daytona naturally sold extremely well in its 5 year production run, with nearly 1,300 finding homes before the car was replaced by the 365 GT4 BB.

Our car is a beautiful LHD EU spec vehicle that has recently benefited from extensive restoration work, including a full engine rebuild. With only 19,000 miles showing and factory Classiche certification, this is one of the nicest Daytonas available today, not only an amazing car to drive to the South of France, but also a fantastic long-term investment.
